Dougal passed away peacefully in Inverness on 16 May 2023, three months short of his 95th birthday.
Salmon fishing, boats and the sea, were a big part of his life. Up until a year or two ago, his life revolved around salmon fishing in the Highlands of Scotland.
As a toddler, Dougal learnt to tune into, and respect, nature and all the animals and wildlife which depend on it for their survival.
The men and women who protect those who, like Dougal, depend on the sea for their livlihood, are volunteers. They sail into driving high seas and willingly face danger with no regard for their own safety, to help sailors and fishermen who get into difficulty.
